Annual review 2015 – 2016

It is pleasing to be able to report that despite the unsettled and changing nature of the year and the volatile investment market, we managed a steady performance on the previous year, with a slight drop in income due to outstanding claims for gift aid. We achieved a modest reduction in our overall expenditure on staff and support while handling an increase in the number of cases addressed...

Annual review 2014 – 2015

Another year’s work has seen us able to offer significant help and support to members of the Bar and their dependants at their time of need. Annual review 2013 – 2014

Once again I have pleasure in introducing the report on our year’s efforts to help fellow barristers who have hit hard times. Annual review 2012 – 2013

Looking back at another busy year it is interesting, and surprising, to realise that, against all our expectations, we have experienced a drop in applications for the second year in a row – following from the record numbers in 2011. In 2013 we received 28 new applications and we were able to help 26 of them. This involved 47 reports and four subcommittee meetings: We renewed our help from previous years in a further 22 cases. In 2011 we had received a record 43 applications. Together with the new applicants for assistance we assisted over 95 beneficiaries in 2013.

Help us help people like you

Most of our clients, for obvious reasons, prefer to remain anonymous. That's why your donation is so important, you could be helping a colleague, friend or their dependants get the financial or emotional support they need and although hopefully you will never need us yourself if the worst was to happen we will be there to help you and your family through any difficulties you may have.

We believe that almost every member of the practicing Bar can afford to donate at least a sum equivalent to one hour of their charging rate without feeling any real difference. If you agree please support us by clicking on the JustGiving button opposite or by contacting Susan or Nicky through the 'Contact us' page of our website.
